Celebration!
Each additional year of freedom has its
significance in the life of a nation that was colonized by a
foreign country.
The Ivorian community living in Seattle, regrouped under IVOIRE
UNION understood the importance of the celebration of the 49th
year of independence of this young nation of theirs: the Ivory
Coast …thus the collective effort made by the spouses, sisters
and daughters of members of the community since the wee hours of
the morning on this Saturday August 8th, 2009.

TASTE OF THE IVORY COAST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON
Founded in 1978 in honor of the late Senator and Vice President,
the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings to the United
States accomplished mid-level professionals from designated
countries that have a wide range of development needs.
Ivorian Claude Mbahia who was among those chosen for this
prestigious fellowship in the 2008 program is studying for one
year at the University of Washington. While there studying, he
and his fellow scholar have been invited to talk about their
countries, their culture and their people

IVORY COAST PRESENTED TO THE FRENCH ALLIANCE
The Alliance Française de Seattle is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit
organization and a member of the Alliance Française global
community, who offers a stimulating ,focused environment that
connects people to “la vie française”, not only through a wide
range of language classes, but also through cultural offerings,
partnerships and events.
